Nina Fagerström is a Finnish show jumping athlete renowned for her exceptional skills and dedication to the sport. From a young age, she was influenced by her mother's passion for horses, which set the foundation for her illustrious career in equestrianism.
Competitive Career
Fagerström's journey in show jumping began early when she had the opportunity to ride and compete with the horses of Finnish show jumping Olympian Christopher Wegelius. By the age of 15, she had joined the junior show jumping team and was competing at the Grand Prix (GP) level. Her early success with Wegelius paved the way for her future in the sport.
In pursuit of further growth, Fagerström moved to Belgium to work for Stephan Conter. Over the next ten years, she trained, produced, and competed with hundreds of horses, including those of Stephex Stables and Olympic gold medalist Eric Lamaze. Her experience in Belgium saw her rise to compete up to the 5* level, showcasing her talent on an international stage.
Finca Horses and Professional Endeavors
In 2011, Fagerström co-founded Finca Horses with Alexander Rohling. Initially based in Europe, the stable later relocated to the USA and Canada for three years before returning to Belgium. Finca Horses focuses on producing and competing top-quality show jumpers, as well as coaching riders globally. The stable prioritizes the welfare of the horses and promotes good horsemanship.
Currently, Finca Horses is situated at Haras De Beaufour in French Normandy. The facility boasts extensive training amenities, including large outdoor and indoor rings, a race track, horse walker, treadmill, lunging ring, beach riding, and hill training. This state-of-the-art environment supports the development of high-caliber show jumpers.
Current Status and Achievements
As of now, Nina Fagerström is ranked as the 46th highest international show jumping rider in the FEI rankings. She continues to compete for Finland while also dedicating herself to breeding competition and sport horses. Her breeding program focuses on producing high-quality jumpers, with notable lines including Andiamo, Nimmerdor, and Contendro.
